NIGHT DISPATCH

Wednesday, 1:40 am

I came back from Mitte, where I take care of things. I tend to visit a bar in Schönleinstraße on the way back. And so I found myself with a slow shot, enjoying the silent vicinity of Linger. A very special nearness.

I took some notes. I had to jot it down, because of the fatigue. "What weariness makes possible, weariness makes difficult", as the classic said.

I read the newsletter from today and pondered that split between the Figure and the figure. How did ot happen?

"There is another element in Bacon's painting," says Deleyze, "the large fields of color on which the Figure detaches itself." Those fields without depth, "or with only the kind of shallow depth that characterizes post-cubism."

And we are thibing to rewrite it. What about if it is received again, the figure? And inscribed again into the ground from which it stemmed?

And here's the bar note:

The Figure and the figure. We're to do here something scandalous. And bring the figure back.
