Benny Cruz, known as Your Local Benny, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work lives at the intersection of language, emotion, and urban life.
Born 1976, local anywhere, Cruz uses text, transit maps, and public space as tools to explore vulnerability, belonging, and personal rebirth. His signature works often created on NYC subway maps or city vehicles blend poetic statements with visual minimalism, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect.
At the core of Cruz's practice is a deep emotional honesty.
His phrases are intimate yet universal, capturing fleeting feelings with lasting resonance. Whether exhibited in galleries or painted across the moving surfaces of the city, his art is rooted in accessibility, community, and presence, a reminder that meaningtul expression doesn't have to shout to be heard.
With a style that is raw yet intentional, local yet expansive, Cruz continues to redefine how public space and personal truth can meet and move people in the modern world.
