What kinds of cultural forms emerge during periods of transition? What new moods, images, desires, and sensibilities begin to appear before they can yet fully name themselves?
This four-part workshop approaches Mark Fisher as a thinker uniquely attuned to these mutations. Through Fisher’s reflections on culture, atmosphere, desire, exhaustion, and political aesthetics, we will try to render this emerging terrain palpable.
Particular attention will be given to the question of the image – how to think and perceive beyond repetition, overstimulation, and visual capture.
Across four sessions, the workshop combines close reading, discussion, and structured reflection on the search for cultural forms capable of confronting the present.

While connected to the earlier course “Mark Fisher and the New Desire,” the present workshop introduces a new body of material and a different emphasis, focusing on the aesthetic and the cultural transformations currently unfolding. The seminar is conceived equally for returning participants and for those joining for the first time.

SESSION HOST
Pawel Jankiewicz is a writer, curator, and researcher based in Berlin. He is the founder of Galerie Linger – Art, Books & Press, a para-academic and para-curatorial space where he teaches weekly workshops and seminars on philosophy, aesthetics, literature, psychoanalysis, and contemporary culture. His work focuses on the relation between art and everyday psychic life under contemporary conditions shaped by digital media, platform culture, and changing forms of subjectivity.
Trained in law at University of Łódź, his early research examined artistic freedom, censorship, and art scandals. He is the author of two poetry collections and the initiator of the call for Ruin Studies published in The Munich Social Science Review (MSSR), exploring contemporary forms of ruination, aesthetic exhaustion, and the emergence of new subjects. His work has also appeared in publications associated with Springer and GeoHumanities/Routledge. His broader practice moves between writing, curating, publishing, and the construction of para-academic institutions operating between theory, art, and public life.
