CHASE RIBOUD

Chase Ribaud

CHASE RIBOUD

What you have here is the other side of the drawings – where the line has thickened into matter.

Bronze, silk, rope. Hard and soft forced into coexistence. The surface gleams, but it is never smooth, it is almost wounded into form.

There is something ceremonial here, but also provisional. What is striking is the refusal of purity. No clean material, no clean meaning – even race – everything is hybrid, entangled. The refined surface carries the trace of pressure – a polished stain that was never removed, only transformed.
