IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE TO HAVE A SURFACE LEVEL UNDERSTANDING OF THE TECH INDUSTRY IN 2017 UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN A HEAVY-HANDED REPRESENTATION OF JEFF BEZOS' SUPPOSED ACID TRIP AT BURNING MAN

Matthew Richard Bohan

IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE TO HAVE A SURFACE LEVEL UNDERSTANDING OF THE TECH INDUSTRY IN 2017 UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN A HEAVY-HANDED REPRESENTATION OF JEFF BEZOS' SUPPOSED ACID TRIP AT BURNING MAN

Symptomatically, Bohan's piece reads like an archaeological fragment from a civilization only just beginning to recognize itself - as historical. That is to say, there is something age-old in it. If Art Deco was modern, Arts and Crafts were resistance, postmodernism was emulation, Bohan's deep is outright Babylonian. Constructed from drawing, collage, and literary annotation, but also dust, debris, and outrageous felt - the work resembles a page recovered from the future. As if Bohan was digging, and pierced to another side of time.
